History In Dogs

Growing up, I spent most of her years surrounded by Dobermans in my parents (Lendra and Brian Barker) home. My love for the breed and dogs in general came instantly; I knew I would never be without a dog in my home.

I attended many shows as a youngster, and upon turning 8 I entered my first Junior Handling competition. For my first attempt I borrowed a Toy Manchester from Wendy Kelly. Easy is not exactly how I would describe my first juniors event, challenging perhaps would be a better word! However, I was hooked and entered every juniors competition I could, many times with a Toy Manchester and as I gained experience I started showing the dobes.

As time went by, a love grew for the Toy Manchester breed, and I soon had my own Toy Manchester "Darcy". Darcy was a true spitfire, he loved life and gave everything his all. Unfortunately this past March I had to let him go, however, he made it to the great age of 16. I miss you "little man" and know I'll see you someday again, over the Rainbow Bridge.

As a teenager I did very well in Junior Handling and twice represented Nova Scotia at the Canadian Junior Handling Nationals 1997 & 1999. In 1997 I won the provincial finals showing a doberman Ch. Edelmar's Henderson Ace. At the 1997 Junior Nationals in Ontario I showed Papillon MBIS MBISS Ch. Arkeno's Memphis Blues aka "Elvis" with great appreciation to Cec Ringstrom (Starstorm) for allowing me to use Elvis! In 1999 I won the provincial finals showing BIS Ch. Heathermoors Brier O Driftwind (English Setter, pictured below). At the 1999 Junior nationals I showed BIS Ch. Glade Times Chas'n Wingset (English Setter).

Since this time I have shown many dogs to their Championships, multi-group placments, and multi-BIS and BPIS wins.
