FLASH: Nika is awarded the title of GRAND CHAMPION !!!! Truly a girl that has proved she can do it all!!!
FLASH: At 5 years of age Nika comes back to the show ring and goes Group 1st under breeder judge Mary White, this was also a dobe booster!
"Nika" as known to her owners Lendra Barker and Mary Trainor came to Nova Scotia from breeder Bonnie Jacobs of Trymine Dobermans.
Nika was your typical doberman puppy, a true comic act right from the beginning, everyone she encountered she played a comedy show for. If there was one thing Nika loved as a puppy and still loves is TOYS!!
I started showing Nika as a puppy and in her first few outings Nika picked up BPIG awards and also many group placments including a Group 2nd in a very large working group at just 7 months of age! Nika continued her winning by achieving multiple BPIS wins and many more group placements during her puppy career.
In 2005, I showed Nika as a young 2 year old special. In June of 2005 just before her 2year birthday, Nika came home with a BIS under well respected breeder judge Mr.Rick Fehler!!!! At this same show, Nika's co-owner competed with Nika in the obedience ring and came 1 single point away from High In Trial the same day as her BIS win!!
Nika ended the 2005 year shown only 30 times with 22 breed wins and 21 Group placements and 3 BIS awards. Thanks go out to judges Rick Fehler, James Reynolds, and Don Wallace for giving Nika the nod for BIS! For her last show, Nika traveled to Ottawa to attend the Show of Shows and come home with Group 4th out of 14 BIS winners in the working group!
Nika took some time away from the show ring in 2006 and tried out motherhood. She was bred to Am.Ch. Foxfire's Magic Dragon (DPCA Top 20 Contender) and produced a litter for 4 girls. These puppies have followed in their mother's footsteps; Oreo as a puppy is a multi BPIS winner and had 3 group 1st awards as a puppy. Nika's other daughter Heidi is also a BPIS winner and multi group placer. Tasha, who lives in the United States took RWB at the host club show just prior to the 2008 US dobe national defeating over 90 other bitches. Tasha is now a US Champion!!!Freya the 4th puppy in the litter just recently completed her Canadian championship and did so with a group placement! An ALL CHAMPION LITTER!!!
In November 2007 after a long break from the ring Nika's owners decided to try showing her again. At the Moncton Kennel Club shows, Nika came home with a Group 1st and Group 2nd under judges Kristen Francis and Maida Putterman (thank you to both judges)!!
In February 2008, we showed Nika again, this time at the Halifax Kennel Club shows. At the end of the weekend Nika came home with back to back Group 1st and on Sunday took home Reserve BIS!!! Thank you to judge Mr.Don Emslie for the Group 1st award and thanks to judge Mr. Ed Wild for his Group 1st and RBIS award!!
Nika will now enjoy the "retired" life but may come out for shows here and there in 2008 with Erin.
